
Dimapur, November 10 (MExN): An Organic Farm School was inaugurated at Lhothavi village under Dhansiripar block by Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) functionaries along with Vizokhonyu Yhome (A.O) on November 8. Concept and operationalising of farm school and role of farmer teacher was highlighted by Moainla (BTM-ATMA). Training on “Organic Farming” was also conducted at the farm school with an objective to make the farmers aware and to develop alternative strategy over chemical farming. Resource person, Vizokhonyu Yhome addressed the participants that the state has a comparative advantage for the development and promotion of organic cultivation and thereby organic farming aims to produce food while establishing an ecological balance thereby minimizing pollution and wastage. He stressed on ecologically balanced agricultural principles like crop rotation, green manure, organic wastes etc. Meanwhile, self help group members were also sensitized on the roles and responsibilities in empowering future sustainability of SHGs. The programme was attended by 30 farmers. Seeds were also distributed to the participants and financial assistance for farm maintenance was provided to the farm school teacher, a press release informed.
