The Li-Ning 45th Inter District & State Open Badminton Championship 2023 under the aegis of Nagaland Badminton Association (NBA) as host and Kohima District Badminton Association as co-host, concluded today at Indoor Badminton Stadium Kohima.
Peren district emerged the overall team champion.

Gracing the grand finale as the special guest, Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister, TR Zeliang said that Badminton is a game for all age and physical structure.

He urged all the young players to aim higher and give their best effort to compete at the national and international level.

“This can be possible only when you keep your health fit by maintaining well balance diet and abstaining oneself from certain harmful substances that is detrimental to one’s own health, talents and career, and maintain regular and rigorous training habits and exercise,” he said.

Stating that this year’s championship marked the commemoration of the Golden Jubilee of Nagaland Badminton Association, he said “The Association has come a long way, and has contributed immensely in promoting Badminton sports in the state. I salute the pioneers and present leadership of the NBA for tirelessly stewarding the Association, and wish the Association a bright future in all their endeavour.”

Also speaking on the occasion, Nagaland’s Youth Resources & Sports Advisor, S Keoshu Yimkhiung conveyed deepest respect to all the pioneers who have initiated NBA.

“It is because of their visionary thoughts we are here today celebrating a milestone of the existence,” he said.

He encouraged both young and old to strive continuously to promote the badminton with a goal to achieve in the next level in all possible ways.

NBA former president Lanu Toy also spoke at the function and appealed the state government to attend the proposal of the NBA to demolish the existing Indoor Badminton & TT Stadium at Kohima and construct new one.

Dr Watizulu Siiziimeren, vice president BAI and senior vice president NBA thanked each and every individual towards the success of the championship.

Over 300 players from 16 districts including Nagaland Police team joined the championship, held from July 10 to 14.
