Dimapur, July 2 (MExN): The 3X8 Megawatts Likimro HE project has been handed over to NEC Energy Private Ltd, Gurgaon, for operations and maintenance of the power plant. The Likimro Power Project has been handed over with a lease duration for ten years as per the memorandum of agreement executed between the Government of Nagaland and the firm recently. This was informed by Chief Engineer of the Department of Power, Kohima.
It was informed that at present only one unit out of the three units. The generation of power are 8 Megawatts during peak period and 6 megawatts during off-peak, it was informed. The remaining power units will also start generating shortly. Power generation is expected to improve following this move. “With Likimro in the GRID, the power supply to the state capital has improved considerably (without encountering load-shedding) as is evident with uninterrupted power supply during this ongoing World Cup season” the Chief Engineer stated. The power supply will further stabilize once all three units of the project go into operation, it was added. “This is an achievement of the State Government as the state will benefit immensely from stability of power supply and also reduce power purchase costs which is draining the State’s exchequer heavily” the release stated. The Government of Nagaland and the Department of Power wished NEC Energy Private Ltd all the best in their endeavor in running the project and that the people of the state of Nagaland be benefited from it.
