Kohima, April 21 (MExN): The Government of Nagaland has appointed Tongpang L Jamir as the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities. The appointment, made under Section 79(1) of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, was approved by the Governor of Nagaland on the recommendation of the Search-cum-Selection Committee. Jamir will take charge with effect from the date of assuming office and will function as the Head of the establishment of the State Disability Commission, according to the order issued by the Social Welfare Department, GoN. He will draw salary at Level 20 of the Pay Matrix under the Nagaland Services (Revision of Pay) Rules, 2017, along with all other allowances admissible to State Government employees.
The appointment is for a period of three years or until he attains the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier, the order stated. The order was issued by Chief Secretary Sentiyanger Imchen, IAS.
