Peren, May 28 (MExN): ATMA Peren Ahthibung block conducted training and demonstration on ‘Package & Practices of Banana cultivation’ and ‘Selection of Suckers & Pit Management’ respectively on May 15 at Lilen village with Keneingunou Sorhie, ATM as Resource person.
ATMA Ahthibung block in a press release stated that Keneinguno Sorhie trained the farmers on package and practices of banana cultivation for better growth and yield and further imparts various knowledge on banana cultivation like use of proper propping after bunch emergence to avoid overloading, bunch covering to get attractive colour and removal of unwanted Suckers to keep under control for better growth and yield of the mother plant. This was followed by demonstration on selection of conical shape sword suckers, lanceolate leaves and proper pit management along with the economical benefits of intercropping of turmeric and ginger in banana cultivation.
Altogether 20 farmers attended the training positively. Suckers, Gingers and Turmerics were distributed after the programme.
