Liquor destroyed in Jakhama, five families fined

Jakhama, August 19 (DIPR): Jakhama Village Council along with the village youth organisation, women society, GBs, Jakhama gazetted officers, students’ union, village elders on August 15 destroyed seized IMFL at Jakhama Local Ground.   Chairman of Jakhama Village Council, Dr. Nolesel Zhotso lauded the youth organisation for their initiatives in checking the selling of IMFL in the village jurisdiction. He stated that selling and use of IMFL were not practiced during our ancestor’s time and will not be allowed today also.   President of the youth organisation, Swedezhol Savi said that under the guidance of the Village Council, the organization has conducted a surprise checking in places selling IMFL in their jurisdiction and caught five families who were imposed a fine of Rs.5,000/-. He called upon different organisations to co-operate with the youth during surprise checks in the days to come.

  Short speeches were also delivered by Vito Tetso, GB, Jakhama Town, Kelethuzo, President Jakhama Students’ Union, JGOK Secretary, Vibozoto, Adünü, Secretary, Women Society, Kohonul Meze, oldest man from Jakhama village etc.   Altogether, 31 bottles of McDowell Rum, 29 Kingfisher beer, 14½ bottles of McDowell No.1 Whisky were destroyed.
