Literary day on gender equality held in Phek

Kohima, March 6 (MExN): Literary day on the theme ‘Gender equality in health, education and job opportunities’ was conducted at Christian Mission Higher Secondary School Phek on March 5 last.
It was organised by Phek district administration and DLCW- Mahila Shakti Kendra Phek under the aegis of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP).
Altogether, 50 students from various schools joined the programme.
Rhiveu Tsuzuh from Bishop Abraham Memorial School bagged first prize in extempore speech while Rebecca from Christian Mission Higher Secondary School and Vazulu from Royal Foundation school stood 2nd and 3rd position respectively.
In quiz competition, Christian Mission Higher Secondary School bagged first position. Bishop Abraham Memorial School and Royal Foundation School stood 2nd and 3rd position respectively.
The programme was chaired by Veposelu Naroh District coordinator DLCW- Mahila Shakti Kendra, Phek.
Lolly Basu exhorted the students and appreciated the dist administration DLCW- Mahila Shakti Kendra Phek for providing platform to students.
N Bhavani Sri, SDO (Civil) and nodal officer, BBBP Phek in her speech highlighted that Nagaland is performing well in terms of gender equality in education.
However, she said a lot more need to be done to bring gender quality is property rights. She said that social change has to happen from within the society and Naga women have to stand up for their rights. Meanwhile, similar literary programme will be carried forward in all the 7 blocks within Phek district.
