KOHIMA, MAY 7 (MExN): With the aim to support and give opportunity to young girls, Nagaland Adolescent Girls’ Club on May 5 held an inauguration program at Charity School Kohima with the motto ‘Live the promise.’
The inaugural function was graced by Secretary of Nagaland State Social Welfare Board (NSSWB), Bodeno S Colo as special guest. In her message, Colo stated that the aim and objective of NAGC is to empower the girls by giving them access to information about their rights. She added that girls are very special with special responsibilities as daughters, mothers, and sisters.
Juliana Medom, Nodal officer, NAGC in her brief message to the students expressed that students respond better to friends than to authority. She added that the students must perceive their teachers as a friend who understands them and can depend on.
Headmistress of Charity School Kohima, Senu Florine Richa welcomed the gathering and highlighted the history of the school. Assistant Teacher and Teacher Incharge of NAGC at Charity School, Thejasenuo Metha stressed on the needs, importance and purpose of joining the club.
The programme commenced with an invocation by Assistant Teacher Angela, special song by new NAGC members and vote of thanks by Meriyani Patton of Class 10. The programme was attended by Program Assistant, NSSWB, Kriezotuolie Chase, teaching staff of Charity School Kohima and 108 girl students.
