LJP-RV Nagaland position on Naga political issue, Manipur and UCC

DIMAPUR, JULY 15 (MExN): The Lok Janshakti Party - Ram Vilas (LJP-RV), Nagaland has urged the Government of India and the negotiating parties to being about a solution to the Naga political issue without further delay. 

According to a press statement issued by LJP-RV spokesperson, ex MLA, Yitachu, the party was of the opinion that the negotiation on the Naga political issue cannot go on for an indefinite period of time. 

On Manipur issue, LJP-RV condemned the violence that has been taking place in Manipur and urged upon the Union and State governments to actively initiate for restoration of normalcy and peaceful co-existence amongst the various communities.

Also strongly opposing the passing of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in the parliament, the party said it shall not accept the impact that may dilute the Special Provision for the State of Nagaland under Article 371 (A) of the Constitution of India. It, therefore, urged upon the government of the day to pass a resolution in the assembly opposing the UCC.

The party also urged upon the state government to bring about transparency and accountability in the government functioning system towards stability and better governance by providing right development in the right place.

The LJP-RV said these resolutions were made during a marathon state executive meeting held on July 15 at De Oriental Grand, Kohima. The party, meanwhile, expressed appreciation to the Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for taking the party’s two MLA, Dr Sukhato A Sema and Naiba Konyak into confidence of the government.

It also appealed Prime Minister Narendra Modi to induct Chirag Paswanji, national president, LJP-RV of into his council of cabinet ministers.
