LKM extends deadline for NH-2 road improvement after contractor’s assurance

Mokokchung, August 1 (MExN): The Langpangkong Students' Conference (LKM) and LKM Road Coordinator Committee (LKMRCC) have extended an earlier timeline set for the improvement of road construction on National Highway-2 after assurances from the contractor.

Earlier, the LKM and LKMRCC had set the deadline of July 26 for the contractor, KKB Rülho road construction company, cautioning that if there was no improvement in the road construction on NH-2 and the public continued to face difficulties, the LKM would take its own course of action. However, the deadline was extended until August 8, with the company assuring to avoid inconveniencing commuters by then.

According to the LKM, the assurance was given during a meeting arranged by Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung on July 29, wherein the KKB Rülho construction company acknowledged its shortcomings and requested more time for the road construction. After deliberation, LKM extended the deadline. Representatives from the administration, Ao Senden, Executive Engineer-NH, project incharge, LKM office, and LKMRCC attended the meeting.

Meanwhile, the LKM informed that an inspection of the road is scheduled for August 9, involving various stakeholders as directed by the Deputy Commissioner.

In a press release, the LKM highlighted said that since 1933 and extending into the future, its leaders and early pioneers dedicated 13 years to constructing the Langpangkong road, a narrative deeply ingrained in the essence of LKM.

The decision to forgo land compensation in the pursuit of development, establishing a land compensation-free policy, has earned the heartfelt gratitude of the LKM community, it said.

Accordingly, the LKM further asserted that the commitment to maintaining its jurisdiction as a 'taxation-free zone' remains resolute.  No individual or group must disrupt the ongoing work on NH-2, it added.
