Mokokchung, June 22 (MExN): The Langpangkong Students' Conference (LKM) on June 22 celebrated its 78th foundation day at Chuchuyimlang Town Hall, the organisation's headquarters, commemorating nearly eight decades of service towards the welfare, unity and advancement of students and the people of Langpangkong.
Founded on June 22, 1948, the organisation was established by a group of visionary leaders with the objective of promoting educational and social progress among the youth of the range.
The commemorative programme was attended by Ao Senden President Marsanen Imsong as the guest of honour.
A major highlight of the event was the presentation of the Lt L Pangersowa Trust Award for Academic Excellence, instituted in memory of one of the founding pioneers of the conference, Late L Pangersowa Jamir.
The award recognises outstanding academic achievers from the Langpangkong range and aims to encourage students to pursue excellence in their educational endeavours.
This year's recipient, Imnayangla of Unger Village, was honoured with a citation and a cash award for her outstanding performance in the HSLC examination conducted during the 2026 academic year.
The programme also featured special presentations, tributes to the founding fathers of the organisation, and messages from various organisations and well-wishers.
Marking the occasion, the conference reiterated its commitment to nurturing responsible youth leadership, preserving the rich heritage of Langpangkong, and contributing to society through education, service and community engagement.
