Kohima, October 5 (MExN): The Lidi Krou Society (LKS), Kohima conducted one-day training on traditional weaving and bamboo crafts for young girls and boys at Melody Hill, P Khel, Kohima village on October 5.
Concerned that the younger generations are lacking knowledge of traditional ways of weaving and bamboo crafts, the LKS Kohima imparted hands-on training to the boys and girls. Around 15 children were trained in weaving and bamboo craft.
Addressing the inaugural session, Kohima Village Council, Chairman Helievio Solo lauded the members of LKS for taking the initiative to pass on the traditional practices to the younger generation. He said handicrafts and attire depict the group of people we belong to. “This society is undertaking a very big task for the welfare of our people,” he said, adding that such a programme is the only way which will help pass on the traditional knowledge to the future generations.
Chaired by Khriezohunuo Sote, the programme commenced with prayer by Vilazonuo Rutsa while Neizoviü Sekhose delivered welcome address. Kelhoulenuo Keyho proposed vote of thanks.
