LLRPO extends support for construction of Foothill Road

Dimapur, June 4 (MExN): The leaders of Lotha Lower Range Public Organization (LLRPO) Bhandari in a letter to the Chief Engineer (R&B) PWD Department Nagaland has placed demands for what it termed ‘legitimate cause’ in the interest of the Naga people in Nagaland. It was stated in a letter issued by LLRPO president Yingashumo Kithan and Chenirao Jami General Secretary that many Naga Civil organizations have vocally supported the Foothill Road construction from Dimapur to Mon, led by Ao Senden recently.

The LLRPO leaders stated that the Foothill Road should be constructed through the border villages since the road is meant for the people. And accordingly, survey and road construction should be done connecting all the border villages irrespective of the tribes and districts.

The leaders also felt that all the border districts and villages should extend support in this road construction without disturbances from the land owners. For survey and road construction in their respective districts and villages, all tribal Hohos and village councils should be entrusted for supervision of the works in time bound manner, it stated.

It also suggested that the survey and the road construction should be done from Liphayan (Governor’s Camp) to Tssori connecting through all the border villages under 40 Bhandari Area Constituency under Wokha district Nagaland. It also added that enough care and precautionary measures should be adopted so as to avoid Assam-Nagaland boundary dispute. “Therefore, the best policy to avoid the Assam-Nagaland dispute is to construct a road connecting all the border villages. The present survey works from Yimpang Villages to Chanka Village should be corrected accordingly.”

Pointing out that the Government of Nagaland has shortlisted some Oil and Gas companies to resume the Oil and Gas activities in Nagaland, it suggested constructing the road jointly by the oil companies and the State Government.
