Kohima, December 20 (MExN): The Lotha Naga Cultural Society (LNCS) has formed its branches in the Lotha Middle Range area which includes 29 villages and blocks at Sanis Town community hall on December 16.
Wochamo Odyuo, Additional Commissioner of State Taxes addressed the gathering as the resource person.
LNCS was established in 2008 with it’s headquarter in Kohima.
LNCS President, Zubemo Kithan said, “our culture is our identity and with the aim and objective to research, preserve and to promote the Lotha Naga Culture and traditions, LNCS was formed comprising of 7 member governing team.”
Till date, it has 34 branches formed under the society in Wokha district.
The society is an NGO functioning with the voluntary work by the youngsters who are trying hard to take forth and give awareness to all the villages of the Lotha community.
Wochamo Odyuo stressed on the need to research and safe-guard the culture and tradition. We need to find the elders from different villages and to keep record of the cultural practices and traditional usages, he said.
Odyuo also urged LNCS team to work hand in hand with the Lotha Academy and complement one another. He stressed on the importance and the usages of speaking Lotha language. “If our dialect is lost then we will be lost,” he said and “reminded the gathering the status of own dialect usages among the Lothas.”
He handed over certificate to all 29 villages for the formation of LNCS branches.
The programme was chaired by Vungathung Murry, Vice President, LNCS while Longshi Murry, Pastor Longtsung Baptist Church invoked God’s blessing. Special number was presented by Mharoni Tsopoe and Zuchano Kikon.
Thechamo Ovung, chairman LMRVCC and Wonchibemo B Ovung, President LMRSU also addressed the gathering on behalf of the Lotha Middle Range Village Council Chairman Union and the Lotha Middle Range Student's Union respectively.
E Khodao Mozhui, Pastor, Hajang Baptist Church, Sanis invoked blessings upon the LNCS team and the newly formed branches while Zuchamo Jami, Pastor Menshangpen Baptist church pronounced benediction.
