Flush out operation conducted

Dimapur, May 5 (MExN):
With a view to create a congenial atmosphere for free and fair electoral process to the bye-election to 26th Aonglenden A/C, a flush out operation was conducted on May 4, 2011 in the wards of Mokokchung town by the combined forces of District Police, NAP(IR), CRPF and District Administration. A press note issued by the Superintendent of Police, Mokokchung, informed that the exercise commenced at 6: 30 hours and concluded at 9: 00 hours. The Operation was carried out at Sangtemla Ward, Penli Ward, Arkong Ward, Aongza Ward, Dilong Ward, Alongmen Ward, Salangtem Ward, Marepkong Ward and Sewak Gate area. “The citizens of Mokokchung town are requested to kindly inform the District Police at the earliest in the event of notice of any movement of anti-social elements in the town area,” directed the Superintendent of Police, Mokokchung in the note.

Holiday for Aonglenden constituency on May 7
 
Mokokchung, May 5 (DIPR):
Nagaland Government has declared May 7 as paid holiday for the employees of the state government offices located under 26-Aonglenden Assembly Constituency to enable them to cast their vote in the Bye-election. Deputy Commissioner & Returning Officer, Mokokchung, Lithrongla G. Chishi issued a notification to this effect.

Training on ASHAs held

Kohima, May 5 (MExN):
The training on 6th module for ASHAs was held from April 25 to 29 wherein it taught on birth preparedness, component of Antenatal check up, safe delivery, care of pregnant women, examination of newborns etc. The trainers consist of Medolezono Sothu, Sinyhule, Kenyele Kent, Neivotuoü Kiso, Zakietuonuo, and T. Asüno while Neisevonuo Linyü was the supervisor for the training. Kungchang Dailiam, media officer along with Ajano Sote were present for further inputs. The ASHAs were also taken on field trip to Tseminyu town and Tsiesema village where 3 pregnant women and 5 newborns were examined. Altogether, 54 ASHAs attended the training. Radio sets, oral contraceptive pills, condoms and Nishchay pregnancy test kits were also distributed to all the ASHAs.

Rape of minor anguishes CMA

Dimapur, May 5 (MExN):
The Chakhesang Mothers’ Association (CMA) is pained that a 4-year old girl was raped by one Ravohu alias Manau Singh of Manipur on April 20 in Phek town. “The fact that the victim a minor girl of 4 yrs old and a LKG student who was raped by a 60 yr old police constable of 5th NAP, supposed to be the custodian of the law called for a serious attention of the administration and the police authority. This kind of criminal should not be given any place to live in a civilized society and most severe punishment be awarded to the culprit as per the law of the land,” the CM stated in a note today. The CMA also expresses deep concern over the growing incidents of violence and sexual crime against women over the years. “We appeal to the authority to immediately act and ensure all possible security to the weaker sex of the society,” the association stated.
