Dimapur, August 28 (MExN): The Merangkong Laishir Telungjem (MLT) has released a historic musical tribute titled “Longjanglepzük,” commemorating the life, faith, and legacy of Longjanglepzuk, the first Ao Naga from Merangkong village to embrace Christianity.
The baptism took place 175 years ago at Sibsagar, Assam, on September 7, 1851, stated a press release received here.
Composed by Imna Yaden, the song is part of an MLT initiative to preserve the community’s rich historical and spiritual heritage. Through music, the project seeks to inspire present and future generations by highlighting the enduring courage of early believers.
The official dedication ceremony was held at Bethel Prayer Home, Nuton Bosti, Dimapur, where R Amenla Imsong, Founder Director of Bethel Prayer Home, offered the dedicatory prayer and handed over the launch certificate to Yaden, marking a significant milestone for the community.
The track is now available for public viewing on YouTube.
To further commemorate the anniversary, a special Thanksgiving Programme will be held on September 7 at Merangkong Village. Community members and well-wishers have been invited to join the celebration, which falls on the exact date of the pioneering baptism.
