Longjem Society set to organise 1st Tsüngremmong Saalak in Dimapur

As part of the Tsüngremmong pre-harvest festival of the Ao community celebrated annually in the month of August, Longjem Society Dimapur has announced that they will be organising the first ever ‘Tsüngremmong Saalak’ entertainment night at the Urban Haat Dimapur on August 1. 

This announced by its members during a press conference held at the Ao Students Union Dimapur commercial building located at Signal Angami, Dimapur on July 26. 

Formed in December 2022, the society aims to promote and foster unity among the people; and also to help disadvantaged families in Dimapur according to its members. 

Sentimeren Pongen, event manager tasked with organising the entertainment night stated that they’ve invited the group, Dreamz Unlimited and artists such as Tiameren Aier, Chubatsur Jamir, Lenen Jamir, MJ Jamir and Sunep Lemtur to perform on the expected day. 

Ticket prices have been set at Rs 200 per person and can be availed at Four Seasons Hotel and MI Printers or from their social media pages. “It will be a two hour concert beginning from 7:00 pm onwards,” he said.  

The Tsüngremmong festival is widely celebrated to mark the end of rigorous plantation followed by celebrations and offerings for a bountiful harvest. Although the festival is particularly meant for the Aos, every tribe or community can join in on the celebration and enjoy great music, Pongen said.   

He also mentioned that “Tsüngremmong Saalak” will provide opportunities and a platform for the young upcoming artists from different entertainment industry.  There will be several different food stalls serving ethnic Naga cuisine as well and a surprise lucky draw.
