Longleng admin appeal for peace in border areas

Longleng, June 10 (MExN): Following reports of Assam Police personnel removing bamboo blockades put up at the Yonglok village under Longleng district, the Longleng District Administration and the Police held a meeting with Phom People's Council (PPC), Phom Students' Conference (PSC) and Phomla Hoichen at DC's conference hall today. 


According to a DIPR report, Longleng Deputy Commissioner M Shayung Phom and Superintendent of Police Yanithung Ezung appealed to the NGOs, civil societies and the public to maintain peace and tranquility in the border areas. The DC and SP also informed the NGOs about the positive responses of the DC and SP of Sivasagar when they were apprised of the situation and requested to maintain peaceful law and order in the border and to prevent such incident in the future, the report stated.


Meanwhhile, the DC and SP Longleng appealed to the NGOs to visit Yonglok to request the public to maintain peace and harmony in the area during times of crisis, it added.
