Longleng, July 24 MExN): The Longleng district administration has advised residents to avoid non-essential travel and minimise movement following adverse weather conditions and a recent cloudburst that have triggered landslides and damaged roads across the district.
In a circular, Deputy Commissioner W Manpai Phom said several parts of the district have reported rock falls, mudslides, landslides, land sinking and road damage, making travel hazardous.
The administration urged residents to venture outdoors only if absolutely necessary and to avoid travelling along vulnerable roads and landslide-prone areas until the situation improves.
The advisory also called on the public to exercise extreme caution while travelling, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall, and to avoid stretches vulnerable to landslides, rock falls and road subsidence.
Residents have been asked to follow advisories issued by the district administration and other authorities and to immediately report incidents of landslides, road blockages or other emergencies to the district administration or the nearest authority.
The Deputy Commissioner said the district administration is closely monitoring the situation and is making efforts to restore normalcy at the earliest, while seeking the cooperation of the public in ensuring safety.
