Longleng DPDB discuses upcoming eye camp, NAAC visit

Longleng, April 8 (MExN): An upcoming eye screening camp and the scheduled visit of the NAAC team to Yingli College were the main items of discussion during the monthly Longleng District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) held on April 8. The meeting at the newly-renovated DPDB Hall was presided by Deputy Commissioner Longleng,  M Shayung Phom, who inaugurated the same earlier.

As per a DIPR report, at the meeting the Chief Medical Officer, Longleng Dr Obangjungla informed the members regarding on eye screening camp to be held from May 4-6 at Phom Lempong. While urging the members to avail the opportunity, she also urged them to disseminate the information to others and benefit from the facilities provided by the department. 

Meanwhile, the Principal Yingli College Dr T Temsu Imti highlighted that the college is gearing up for development of infrastructure and other basic needs of the college for assessment by the National Assessment & Accreditation Council (NAAC). The NAAC team is scheduled to visit the college from April 28-29.

The college is striving hard for improvement of amenities to meet the required standard grading under NAAC and also to fulfill the criteria set by National Education Policy, he told the members. Besides infrastructure development, he noted that the community participation is also necessary for grading and appealed to the members to extend full cooperation both in kind and cash towards development of the lone college in the district. 

A PowerPoint on departmental activities was presented by ADS (Supply) and while fortification of rice for better nutrition was proposed by Shan Ezung, State Technical Officer ( Fortification), the report said.  

Earlier, DC Shayung exhorted the members to be proactive by sharing their views and suggestions to redress their issues and also for better planning and development of the district to forge ahead along with the rest of the state. He also lauded the members for their cooperation towards successful completion of Phom Monyu Festival and also extended appreciation to the DPDB hall Renovation Committee. The fund for renovation was contributed by BS Nganlang Phom, MLA & Chairman DPDB, Longleng under LADP 2001-22, the report added.
