The Wokha District BJP Youth Wing, led by its president, Shanchothung A Ezung, organised a free seed distribution programme at Longsa Village on July 1 with the aim of supporting farmers and promoting agricultural activities.
Seeds of corn, peas, soybean and peanut were distributed to local farmers at the event. The varieties were selected keeping in view the climatic conditions of Longsa, making them well suited for cultivation in the area, the organisers informed.
Addressing the gathering, Ezung said that while various government welfare schemes and development programmes are available, many people in rural areas remain unaware of them due to limited access to information. He said the youth wing seeks to bridge this gap by creating awareness and ensuring that eligible beneficiaries are able to avail themselves of such initiatives.
Ezung also acknowledged the guidance and support of senior party leaders and workers in making the programme a success. He expressed confidence that collective efforts could bring meaningful change to the lives of people and hoped that more public welfare initiatives would be undertaken in the future.
The organisers conveyed special gratitude to Chumbemo Jerret Patton, Political Attendant to Advisor Mhathung Yanthan, for providing the seeds distributed at the programme. The support of Hachio Patton, PRO to the Deputy Chief Minister, was also acknowledged.
The event was described as part of the Wokha District BJP Youth Wing's continuing efforts to assist farmers, encourage agricultural development and strengthen grassroots outreach across the district.
According to the organisers, the initiative received an encouraging response, with a large number of villagers benefiting from the distribution.
