Longleng DPDB discusses safe drinking water and plastic waste management

Longleng, October 9 (MExN): The Longleng District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Dharam Raj at the DPDB hall on October 6.

A DIPR report stated that the members had a healthy debate on safe drinking water and Plastic Waste Management Unit (PWMU) after a PowerPoint presentation by the PHED department. The members emphasized on underground water quality testing from different zones of the district, issuing public advisories for awareness, and identifying safe drinking water availability in the district. 

The board also stressed on plastic waste management unit for safe disposal of plastic waste without hazards to lives and the environment. The board urged the PHED department to identify agencies for the disposal of plastic waste through recycling.

On presentation of the agendas for registration of the societies, the DC informed members to scrutinise the motives of the society before the application is submitted to the DPDB to be forwarded to the government.

Earlier, the board forwarded the agendas for the registration of society submitted by the Kangching Shutheivongangla, Tamlu, and the expansion of public ground submitted by the Kangching village council and Students' Union respectively. 

The DC directed the Social Welfare Department to present its departmental activities in the next DPDB meeting.
