
Dimapur, July 8 (MExN): The District Planning and Development Boards of Longleng and Tuensang were held on July 7 and 8 respectively.
Longleng: In Longleng, Deputy Commissioner and vice chairperson of the board Dharam Raj chaired the meeting and exhorted the heads of offices to be more active by way of sharing their wisdom and past experiences in the DPDB.
Asserting that expression of difference in opinion is required to have innovative solutions to every problem, the DC said innovative solutions can only be achieved through the active participation of the members. He also appealed for better coordination of all the government agencies with the district administration.
Referring to the departmental activities presented by the Land Records & Survey Officer (LRSO), the DC called upon the heads of offices to obtain land permits for their respective offices and quarters from the district administration with a GPS survey done by the LRSO to avoid land encroachment.
The DC also apprised the members to compulsorily vaccinate their staff with COVID-19 vaccine and keep vigil against reports of the virus in the district after CMO Longleng, Dr Obangjongla apprised the members on the status of COVID cases in the district.
Responding to the status report of Swine Fever in the district by Dr Aoyimson Jamir, Dharam Raj urged the district Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services Department to come up with a proper action plan to control the spread of African swine fever in the district and the measures to control the stray dogs in the district headquarter. Citing that piggery is an important occupation of people to boost the rural economy, he urged the department to take all necessary measures to stop the prevailing swine fever in the district.
The board recommended in principle, for extension of the playground and the construction of a rostrum at Yingli College. The proposal was submitted by the ENSF. The establishment of the SDEO office at Tamlu submitted by the Tamlu Area Teachers' Association (TATA) was recommended to the concerned Department after the ASDEO, Longleng briefed the members on the urgent need for the establishment, a DIPR report stated.
Tuensang: At its meeting which was chaired by Tuensang ADC Thungchanbemo Tungoe on July 8, the PHED Executive Engineer updated on the recent irregular supply of water that was caused by damage of two out of four water supply sources by a landslide and the pipes being washed away by the monsoon. He assured the house that the restoration works were being carried out and normal supplies will resume within a week, according to a DIPR report.
The Executive Engineer of National Highways also updated on the ongoing work between Mokokchung and Tuensang which was about to be completed but needed a time extension till the dry season.
The ADC Longkhim asked the heads of offices to deploy and monitor all the designated employees at the Sub Division. He also inquired about the issue of SDEO (education) functioning without staff.
According to the DIPR, the CWS Chang Wedoshi Thangjam also came up with a few inquiries regarding the ongoing work between National Highway 130 to 140 KMs, update on Tourist Lodge at Yungphang Village and Tourist Road construction between Khangshou Khel to Yungphang village, and also the issue concerning construction of Law and Justice Office building at Tuensang.
The Chief Medical Officer Tuensang gave a detailed report of its office setup, functions, schemes, challenges, and achievements to the house while MS District Hospital shared the same details.
The house also reiterated keeping a check on absenteeism among members during DPDB meetings, the report stated.
