Mon, August 2 (MExN): The Longwa Village Authority has declared a "war against illegal drugs", announcing a zero-tolerance policy against the possession, use, sale, trafficking and distribution of narcotic substances within Longwa village and its surrounding areas.
The declaration was made under the leadership of Chief Angh of Longwazen Tonyei Phawang, in consultation with the Deputy Anghs, Longwa Village Council, Longwa Village Gaon Buras, Longwa Students' Union, Longwa Village Guard, Longwa Nyupuh Sheko Khong and the Longwa Baptist Church Youth.
In a statement issued through the Media Cell of the Longwa Students' Union, the village authority said the decision was taken in view of the serious threat posed by illegal drugs to the lives of young people, the peace and security of the community, and the reputation of the village.
It said the village has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against all drug-related activities and warned that anyone found possessing, using, selling, trafficking or distributing illegal drugs would face strict action in accordance with resolutions of the Village Authority and the laws of the land.
The authority said no individual would be exempted from the measures.
Calling for community participation, the village authority urged all residents to remain vigilant, report any suspected drug-related activities and work collectively to safeguard the well-being of the community and preserve Longwa as a safe, peaceful and drug-free village.
