The Losami Drivers’ Union (LDU) held its 32nd general session on December 26 at Ledepfu, Losami village under Phek district.

Gracing the session as the opening guest, Wepe Mekrisuh, chairman Kohima Losami Union lauded LDU for attaining 32 years and undertaking various welfare activities for the members and also to the community at large.

LDU was founded by Neipetsu Akami on December 26, 1992. Presently, the Union has 220 members.

Mekrisuh maintained that drivers play an important role toward socio-economic development.

Asking the drivers to maintain driving etiquette, he stressed on the need to stay updated with the latest gadget in the driving sector.

He also told the drivers to be well-versed with the road safety rules and safe driving. “We should always stay alert, be sincere, honest and courteous,” he told the drivers. He also called upon LDU to set up Motor Workshop on two lane highway along Phek- Pfutsero, which, he said will benefit the vehicle users and also open job opportunity for the youth.

Earlier, LDU president Kewekhazo Tsido delivered presidential address. The session was chaired by LDU general secretary Wewuhi Akami. Wenyi Mebou, Pastor Losa Tephe Baptist Church invoked God’s blessings while welcome song was presented by Emhechebiu Kepfoh. Vote of thanks was proposed by KDU vice president Neikupe K Tara while Neikotsolo Mekrisuh, Chairman CPC pronounced blessings.

In the second session, LDU joint secretary Khronipe K. Tara presented the activities of the Union while finance report was given by finance secretary Chewu Khesoh. The session concluded with benediction by Kewekha Lohe.

Meanwhile, Kewekhazo Tsido have been re-elected as the president of LDU and Mechepe Khamo as general secretary among the others.
