
KOHIMA, January 30 (MExN): The Lotha Catholic Eloe Khumshum (LCEK) in Kohima celebrated its Silver Jubilee on January 30, marking 25 years of service with a special ceremony at Peraciezie (Gasia), Kohima.
The event, themed “I have the strength to face all conditions by the power that Christ gave me” (Philippians 4:13), began with a Holy Eucharist led by Rev. Fr. Mathew Mhabemo, Parish Priest of St. Francis De Sales Church, Kohima. Mhabemo also dedicated and unveiled the Jubilee monolith during the service.
Rev. Fr. Matthew Rhanben, Parish Priest of St. Joseph's Church, Longleng, delivered the homily, congratulating LCEK on reaching the milestone. He emphasized that the Jubilee was not merely a celebration but a time for spiritual reflection, urging the congregation to support those in need, including the poor, widows, and orphans.
Rhanben also prayed for peace, unity, and prosperity for the community’s future endeavors.
The ceremony featured several key moments, including the hoisting of the Jubilee flag by Rev. Fr. Dr. Jacob Charalel, Chancellor and Secretary of the Commission for School Education, Diocese of Kohima. The Jubilee hall was dedicated by Rev. Fr. K. Dominic Rau, Assistant Parish Priest of St. Francis De Sales Church, Kohima, while the Jubilee souvenir was launched by Rev. Fr. Gabriel Gaikhang. Rev. Fr. Glanson Chacko, Director of Ave Maria Divine Prayer Centre, Zhadima, lit the Jubilee candle.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Nyanbeni Lotha, Jubilee Convenor.
