Lotha cultural song competition held

Dimapur, November 7 (MExN): Lotha Eloe Ekhüng Dimapur (LEED) organized cultural song competition for Lotha women as part of the Tokhu Emong festival and also to encourage women community on November 6 at Badminton Stadium, Dimapur.   At the competition, Abeny Ezung spoke on the importance of the different colours of Lotha traditional attire. She also displayed how to wear each attire and on what occasion. Traditional jewelry and head gears indications were also discussed.   Altogether, 359 women divided into ten groups of various colonies in Dimapur, namely Nagarjan, Burma Camp/Veterinary, Duncan/Court colony, Lotha Oriental and Kashiram, Kyong/HMC, PWD/ Supply/ Riverbelt/ Signal, Town/ Notun Bosti/Dudu/ Balijan/ Longki, Rilan/ Mon Basti, Senjumyan and Borlengri took part in the competition.   Duncan/ Court colony, Lotha Oriental and Kashiram colony, and Burma Camp/ Veterinary colony were adjudged first, second and third winners respectively. The best attire title was won by Town/ Notun Bosti/ Dudu/ Balijan/ Longki colony.   The competition was judged by Abeny Ezung, Elizabeth Merry, Zubeno Mozhü, Renthunglo Shitiri and Avoni Odyuo.   Earlier, the programme was chaired by Renbeni Kithan, invocation prayer was pronounced by Good Shepherd Seminary, Dimapur Rev. Fr. Yanpvuthung Philip, welcome address was delivered by LEED president Sungsabeni Jamio, benediction was pronounced by AG, women leader Chanchano Ngullie and vote of thanks was delivered by LEED secretary Zujano Patton.
