LOU seeks relief for land affected villages of DHEP

WOKHA, JULY 23 (MExN): The Land Owners' Union, Doyang Hydro-Electric Plant (DHEP) has written to the Head of Plant (HoP), DHEP, NEEPCO Ltd seeking relief package for the “land affected” villages of DHEP.

“The 17 land affected villages of the DHEP are drastically affected and their survival is in jeopardy due to COVID-19 pandemic forced lockdown in the country,” the union said. 

In view of the rapid spread of COVID-19, the LOU said that the affected villages are facing livelihood crisis and their sustenance is in jeopardy. The LOU asked the corporation to immediately announce relief package to meet urgent needs of combating the COVID-19 pandemic as well as for protection of means of survival for the affected people.

“The corporation’s immediate relief support and recovery in vulnerable communities in these challenging times and saving the people's living and livelihood must be considered integral to the COVID-19 combat strategy,” it added. 

The LOU meanwhile appreciated the NEEPCO Ltd for its generous contributions/donations to the Prime Minister's Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situation Fund, CM's Relief Fund (CMRF), Nagaland and the Deputy Commissioner, Wokha, Nagaland for COVID-19 pandemic.
