Low enrollment in govt schools concerning: Advisor Yhome in Meluri

Kohima, June 6 (MExN): The Advisor School Education & SCERT, Dr Kekhrie Yhome has expressed concern over the low enrollment in government schools despite the provision of free education with highly qualified teachers.

He was addressing a consultative meeting of Meluri Sub-Division held on June 3 at DBs Court ADC Complex, Meluri. It was attended by representative of district administration, education department, and civil society organisations.

At the meeting Dr Yhome also announced that every village would have its primary school, a DIPR report informed.

However, the establishment of middle schools and high schools would be based on enrollment, and teacher allocation would be adjusted accordingly under the rationalisation policy, he said.

He also stressed on rewards for best-performing schools.

Meanwhile, Advisor N&RE and NSDMA, Z  Nyusietho Nyuthe shared on crucial role and responsibilities of teachers and emphasised the importance of sincerity, dedication, and punctuality at the meeting.

He further highlighted the necessity of community participation for the proper functioning and quality of educational institutions.

Other participants at the meeting included EAC Lephory, Tsalimse Sangram; SDEO Meluri, Elvis Singson; and Principal of Government Higher Secondary School Meluri, Tiatemsu Aier.

They discussed the challenges faced by almost all the schools under Meluri Sub-Division, particularly the shortage of science and math teachers, the report added.

Avelu Ruho, Deputy Project Director NEP (NECTAR) was the moderator for the session.
