he Lower Jail Colony Panchayat (LJCP) Kohima today celebrated its silver jubilee with much pomp and gaiety under the theme ‘For a better & prosperous tomorrow.’
Lower jail colony is a small colony bounded by Paramedical colony in the North West, Supply colony in the east and Jail colony in the south.
Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, minister for environment, forest and climate change Dr. Neikiesalie (Nicky) Kire said that jubilee is a time for retrospection and introspection and to set new vision to move towards greater heights.
He called upon the denizens to forgive and forget the past misdeed if any and stay united in all fronts.
We need to rectify and accept the mistake to ensure conducive atmosphere prevail in the colony, he said.
Dr. Kire was appreciative that there is unity, understanding and perfect coordination among the denizens of the colony and termed it as a good sign.
He called upon the denizens to help and support each other and live in coordinated manner.
The minister also called upon the people to ensure proper utilization of the provided funds for developmental activities.
Further, he reminded the people about the introduction of LED bulb in the state capital and asked them to use it as it facilitate brighter light, reduce energy consumption and lessen power bill.
In this, he asked the people to avail the same from the district administration.
Kohima deputy commissioner Rovilatuo Mor penned in the jubilee souvenir” The Colony earned considerable appreciation for incorporating with the district administration during municipal/general elections, biometrics, peaceful atmosphere in the colony etc. It is noteworthy that the colony has leveraged the residents’ sense of discipline and high moral and ethical values.”
“Indeed, this is a joyous occasion and in time like this let us also retrospects our past and introspect our self so as to bring changes ‘For a brighter and prosperous tomorrow.’ It is my sincere desire that the celebration will create our moral boost and make us a part of smarter citizens of the Kohima city,” penned LJCP chairman Chayazo Kehie.
Earlier, Medochol Sothu, first secretary LJCP gave the brief account of the colony history.
The function was chaired by Adi Sothu, secretary LJCP while LJCP chairman Chayazo Kehie delivered welcome address. Vote of thanks was proposed by organizing committee convenor Y.Visheho Zhimomi.
‘Use mobile phones in the right way’
Kohima (MExN): Minister for environment, forest & climate change Dr. Neikiesalie (Nicky) Kire today stressed on the need to use mobile phones in the right way. With the advent of technology, he said, human beings are becoming too lazy and spending too much time on mobile phones. He said this during the silver jubilee celebration of Lower Jail Colony Panchayat Kohima. The minister regretted that even in the gathering of three to four persons on one table, each one busy with mobile phones and rarely attend to discussion among them. Dr. Nicky also said people become too lazy to drop even to next room in the same complex/apartment as relying on mobile phones become too high.
