LPO flays government self-declaration order to employees

Wokha, July 31 (MExN): The Lotha Public Organization (LPO) on Friday flayed the office memorandum issued by the Home Department, Government of Nagaland directing all the Administrative Head to obtain information in a “Self-declaration” form from government employees regarding family members and relatives in underground organization.

In a statement issued by the LPO Publicity Cell, the organization denounced the usage of the term ‘Underground Organization’ to refer to the Naga National Workers and described the development as a ‘malevolent exercise’.

“Every population of Naga by birth is a freedom fighter because the Naga has antecedents of freedom fighter directly or indirectly interlinked from our forefathers which is an indisputable fact,” LPO asserted.

In this note, it added that asking the Nagas to obtain information regarding family members and relatives “is nothing but a desperate attempt to hector Naga freedom into capitulation.”

Observing that at no point of time such convention has been practiced, LPO said that enforcing such an order “is a total betrayal of the long struggle of the Naga for self determination.”

LPO also stated that that, the Naga National Movement has foothold in the international arena, and reminded that the Nagas have numerous supporting countries. As such, “Patronizing the Nagas in a condescending manner and menacing the sovereignty of the Nagas will not be a desired ending,” LPO stated.

It further appealed to the GoI interlocutor, RN Ravi to ensure that the Naga political talk was brought to a logical conclusion without further delay.

Further, the LPO called upon all the Naga IAS/IPS/NCS/NPS and other officers not to budge but to speak for the rights of the Nagas. LPO also appealed to all the Naga civil societies/organizations to condemn the order as it was a “threat to the sovereign rights of the Nagas.”
