Looking towards holistic growth, economic growth and dignity of labour through promotion of young local entrepreneurs, the Dimapur Ao Baptist Arogo (DABA) Youth Ministry started organizing Sales Day annually since 2016 where local talents showcased their innovative and creative products.

However, owing to the pandemic, the organizers shifted to online mode but they are also not averse to getting back to offline mode of organizing sales day while continuing the online mode on its Instagram page @made_in_daba.

Briefing media persons about the initiative at DABA on September 10, Wabang Imsong, Former Senior Youth Convenor DABA informed that this year there are 83 entrepreneurs who have uploaded pictures of their products with contact details and price on Instagram. He said there would be free delivery within Dimapur area for those who place their order between September 10-15 and the orders would be delivered beginning September 18.

Wabang said that the DABA Youth Ministry was only providing logistic support and does not charge any fees to the participants. He, however, added that the participants were limited only to youth members of DABA. He also talked about the possibility of accommodating youth members from other churches and communities in the future.

Wabang said the Youth Ministry was steadily incorporating even the service sectors like make-up artists, painting, music teaching etc. He informed that the Ministry earmarks Rs 1 lakh every year for the particular project.

The Youth Director of the church, Jongshimanen who was also present during the press conference reiterated that the purpose of Made-in-DABA is to promote young local entrepreneurs; promote locally made products; solve unemployment problem at our own level by encouraging dignity of labour; encourage and produce self-reliant youths; provide platform to the young local entrepreneurs for networking among themselves; and connect the young local entrepreneurs to the market world (facilitator).

“I hope and pray that one day we will control the economy of our land; young generation will develop the spirit of dignity of labour; church will produce economically self-reliant members and our land will be a land where we will be able to fulfil the promises made by our fore parents,” he conveyed.
