Nagaland State Quality Control Board chairman Er. N. Chielie today said the main cause of poor quality works in constructions is non adherence of standard technical specification during construction.
“Every specification of construction item is derived after thorough research by professionals and as long as these specification are strictly adopted poor quality work will not arise,” Er. Chielie told a workshop on quality control here today.
The chairman cited some reasons for not following specifications as; defective DPR, violation of tendering rules and selection of wrong contracting firms, unnecessary interference from various corners during construction, law and order problem, defective budgeting and financial indiscipline, taking up of works during wrong seasons, lack of awareness on the part of public who are also stake holders and lack of sincerity in duties and responsibilities on the part of executing agencies.
