DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 1 (MExN): The Nagaland State Unit of the BJP issued a statement today denying reports of a BJP-NPF alliance and said that the state party unit “works purely on the directives of central leaders on any political matters.”
“To maintain alliance or to re-alliance is not a matter of State, as it is the call of the Central High Command in Delhi," it added.
It further expressed concern that “Naga Society has been undergoing through critical period in the political front, and that such irresponsible reports may even lead to law and order situations in the state.”
A press release from the BJP Nagaland chief spokesperson, Kuput Shohe also expressed concern that the “said article continued to be circulated even after the Nagaland State BJP President, Temjen Imna Along, denied it as 'rumours'.
Stating that the BJP in particular and PDA alliance “has been maintaining transparency and accountability in its governance,” it asked for “responsibility and proper authentication” from the media.
It meanwhile reaffirmed the recent statement made by its National General Secretary (In charge of North East), Ram Madhav that "the pre-poll alliance with NDPP is a gentlemanly agreement , hence, the PDA Alliance is strong and will continue to be so."
The Nagaland BJP further questioned the source of reports regarding the alleged “removal of Ram Madhav as National General Secretary (In charge of North East) and correlating it to a subsequent change in the leadership of BLP & Deputy Chief Minister, Y Patton in Nagaland too, as the allegation is very serious in nature, which can severely affect the Nagaland State BJP party.”
It also asked for clarification on the alleged “meeting with Th Muivah, TR Zeliang and Y Patton at Hebron on September 24, 2019 and subsequent allegation on formation of a new government in Nagaland.”
“The BJP Nagaland State Unit had no knowledge whatsoever about the incident. However, even if the report about the meeting of Muivah is true, as senior leaders in the government , and responsible leaders of the state, the Deputy CM or any political leader has every reason to do so, which needs no further explanation or approval,” it added.
