Mokokchung, October 27 (DIPR): The Golden Jubilee celebration programme of Majakong Ward, Mokokchung was held on October 27 at the Wards Community Hall, with Parliamentary Secretary, Social Welfare, Merentoshi R. Jamir as the chief guest. The theme of the celebration was “Jangyu Medem.”
Speaking at the programme, Merentoshi thanked all leaders both of the past, and present under whose wisdom and guidance the people of Majakong Ward have come braving all hurdles and reaching the milestone of 50 years jubilee. He reminded that Majakong Ward is cosmopolitan where people from different tribes and community are living together in harmony for the last 50 years. He urged the people, especially the younger generation to emulate the spirit of brotherhood, and to look ahead with a vision so that unity and harmony would always prevail in the community.
Associate Pastor, MTBA, Bendang Jamir said the invocation prayer. Chairman, Majakong Ward, Marchiba delivered the welcome address. Chairman, Artang and Lijaba Lijen Wards, Ungma and Mokokchung Village Council, delivered short speeches. Watsu Telen and Sumi community, Majakong Ward presented special items at the programme. Dr. Medem Bendangnukshi Longkumer who also spoke on the theme of the Jubilee later released the Jubilee Souvenir. Convenor, Jubilee Planning Committee, Bendang Jamir, proposed the vote of thanks while, Pastor, Chang Baptist Church, Mokokchung, Mgaku Chollen said the benediction.
