
The house belonging to a retired government official taking the impact of the fire.
KOHIMA, SEPTEMBER 20 (MExN): In a major fire accident, the house of a retired government official located at Tinpati in Kohima was completely razed to the ground on Tuesday evening. Eyewitness account described the fire as ‘high intensity’. Although fire brigades arrived on the scene, the inferno could not be controlled leading to large scale damage. However no casualty was reported.
The fire broke out around 6:30 pm. The house reportedly belongs to one Dr. Satuo Sekhose, Retired Director Animal Husbandry & Veterinary. Reasons behind the fire are yet to be ascertained but an electrical short circuit is suspected to be the cause. One lineman was electrocuted while trying to cut off power lines. However he is reported to be out of danger. Damages caused to property could not be ascertained till the filing of this report.
Apparently the fire department made more than ten trips. The Assam Rifles also came to the rescue with their fire services. However the credit goes to the public and the neighbors who immediately swung into action as the first responders.
