
Panaji, February 3 (MExN): SC Jamir, Governor of Goa today invited the Naga students studying here in Goa Engineering College, Farmagudi (Ponda), Goa, to come more often to Raj Bhawan for social and religious get together and asked them to make his home their home.
Interacting with the eight students from Nagaland studying at the Engineering College this afternoon when they called on him here at Raj Bhawan, Jamir asked about their welfare and told them not to hesitate to approach him or his officers when ever they required help.
“We are all so far from home and you are welcome to make my home your home,” Jamir said. “Make your self comfortable in this Naga home.”
At the same time, the Goa Governor urged the students to imbibe in themselves the spirit of one ness as Nagas. He appealed to them to do away with narrow tribal feelings and that they should not think of themselves of this or that tribe, but that they should consider themselves as citizens of the world.
“I want Naga students to excel in whatever they do,” Jamir exhorted. “I know Naga students are intelligent, you lack hard work.” He pointed out that in the present day competitive world; excellence is the key word to success.
He said the failure of any student is felt as much, if not more, by parents too, who work so hard to save money for their children’s education.
“You should not let your parents down nor should you let yourself down,” he urged.
Pointing out that Goa also has a lot of temptations for students, Jamir warned them not to stray from their mission of excelling in their studies.
“Do not embarrass your parents or the Naga community by bringing a bad name,” he cautioned.
The students were taken for a sight seeing tour in the Raj Bhawan compound after having High Tea with the Governor.
