
Peren, November 14 (MExN): National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) Peren launched the malaria elimination programme on November 13 at Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall, district headquarters New Peren.
Chaired by Dr. Denis Hangsing, Chief Medical Officer (Co-chairperson, DTF for Malaria Elimination), Peren, the programme was attended by officials of various departments, NVBDCP staffs and NGOs who are also members of the District Task Force (DTF).
Dr. K. Limatula, District Program Officer, NVBDCP gave an overview of the malaria elimination programme stating that the goal is to eliminate malaria throughout the entire country by 2030 and to maintain malaria-free status in areas where malaria transmission has been interrupted and prevent re-introduction of malaria.
Zarenthung Ezung, Deputy Commissioner (Chairperson, District Task Force for Malaria Elimination), who launched the programme, encouraged all concerned to cooperate and coordinate to make the program successful.
