Manipur: 4 curfew violators test COVID-19 positive

On day one of the “aggressive mass COVID-19 testing” drive launched in the worst affected Imphal West district of Manipur, four persons who were detained by police for defying curfew were tested positive for Coronavirus on Tuesday.

An official source said that the four persons were among 29 curfew violators who were tested after the police on duty at Singjamei Super Market along Imphal-Moreh section of NH-102 detained them.

The persons who were tested positive for the virus were later taken to a Covid care centre where they were admitted for medical treatment, sources said.

Earlier, Imphal West district administration announced testing of persons who move out of their homes defying the curfew.

The drive was a part of the aggressive mass COVID-19 testing drive which the district administration began today across the district (Imphal West).

The 'aggressive mass COVID-19 testing' in the worst affected district was launched by state Chief Minister N Biren Singh will continue till June 15.
