Bypoll scheduled to be held on May 25 Imphal, May 14 (PTI): Manipur Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Kshetrimayum Bhabananda Singh has been nominated as the party candidate for the Rajya Sabha bypoll in the state. The decision to nominate Bhabananda to the lone Rajya Sabha seat of Manipur was taken today by the Central Election Committee of Bharatiya Janata Party, a party statement said. The Rajya Sabha seat fell vacant after sitting member Haji Abdul Salam of the Congress passed away on February 28. Congress has already nominated E Dwijamani for the Rajya Sabha bypoll scheduled for May 25. Dwijamani had contested the last Manipur Assembly elections, but had lost.
