
Newmai News Network Imphal | March 12 The Manipur Government has launched the Digitisation of Service Book for employees of Education (S) department today. Speaking at the launch of the Digitisation of Service Book for employees of Education (S) Department, School Shoes Fund and Sanaminashi held at the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), Babupara, Imphal, Manipur Education Minister, Thokchom Radheshyam promoted digitisation as a must for timely facilitation of benefits and to carry out and fulfill promotional necessities. Noting the many problems relating to teachers especially with regard to promotion due to failure of submission of service book, the Minister insisted that digitisation of the service book would address the issue. Maintaining service books in digital format by centralising will enable to prepare proper list of seniority, retiring teachers/officials and other necessary requirement for carrying out the needful actions on time, he said. It will also help in maintaining the account of retiring teachers one year ahead of the superannuation and identify the vacant post available in the department that needs to fill up, he added. As such, Radheshyam appealed officials and teachers from the hill districts to extend their support in fulfilling the project. The Department’s initiative to digitize and further computerise Service Books has been done so as to assist the employees in re-construction of Service books, timely settlement of pension and other retirement benefits, maintain regular and uniform updating of records, check manipulation/tampering of records, impersonation, etc. On the occasion, an initiative to launch a toy bank especially for the primary schools named Sanaminashi was also launched to raise the interest of the children by encouraging them to attend school. Sanamashi will be carried out by collecting toys through a campaign, including the used ones which are still in good condition. Collected toys were handed to the Director, Education (S) to be distributed to different schools. This project will also focus in promoting indigenous games of the state. Another initiative of the Department, the School Shoes Fund, was also launched during the day. This fund has been initiated to provide school shoes to the children, where the Centrally sponsored scheme of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, SSA does not include the provision to provide school shoes to students above the existing free school uniform and text book. Under this initiative, students were also given free school shoes today.
