Imphal, April 12 (NNN): The Manipur State is committed to protect environment. This was stated by State Forest and Environment Minister, Thounaojam Shyamkumar. He stated that the State Government under the leadership of Chief Minister N Biren Singh is committed and determined to save environment and wildlife of the State. Towards this commitment the Forest department officials are visiting/inspecting the hill districts to look after the loopholes and on possible areas for development. The support of the locals is needed for the success of any developmental work, he added, while stating that the department has earmarked Rs 25 crore for sapling plantation in various areas of the State in the current financial year. The department also has various developmental programmes which will be undertaken, he said.
