Liangmai Naga Council, Manipur (LNC-M), ‘the apex body of all the Liangmai Naga tribe in the state of Manipur’ has clarified that the “so called Zeliangrong Baudi (Assam, Manipur, Nagaland), Zeliangrong Youth Front (ZYF) (Assam, Manipur, Nagaland), Zeliangrong Students’ Union (AMN) and Zeliangrong Baudi, Manipur are defunct self-styled organizations” and do not represent or carry the mandate of Liangmai community in any platform or forum.

The council said that the manner in which the “so called self-styled organizations” endorsed the ‘Agreed Position’ of the NNPGs and the Government of India in recent time using the name of Liangmai is “unethical and condemnable in the strongest term.”

It stated that the four kindred tribes of Zeliangrong community namely Zeme, Liangmai, Rongmei and Inpui are represented in any socio-political and economic affairs by its respective tribe councils. ‘There is also a council of the four tribes (Zeme, Liangmai, Rongmei and Inpui communities) to deal with any common interest of the Zeliangrong kindred tribes as and when required,’ it claimed.

“It is an open secret that the Government of India uses the WC/NNPGs as a political tool to sabotage the Naga national movement and to further divide the Nagas based on artificial boundaries to fulfill its agenda,” the council stated. It added that “neither supports nor endorses the ‘Agreed Position’ of the Working Committee of the NNPGs and the Government of India at any given point of time.”

LNC-M “believes that it is the duty-bound of every Naga to extend solidarity and support for an early, honourable and logical solution based on the Framework Agreement (FA) which was signed between the NSCN-IM and the Government of India on August 3, 2015. On the basis of which, the Naga Flag and the Constitution will be a living document and will reflect the values, philosophy and protect the customs and traditions, land and resources from any form of exploitation.” Further, it said that the Framework Agreement is a broad parameter of terms of agreement between India and Nagalim to co-exist as two entities, “and therefore, the Naga Flag and the Constitution are matters of a fait accompli and the LNC-M stands by it”.
