Manipur logs 201 fresh COVID-19 cases, four deaths

Manipur on Sunday reported 201 fresh COVID-19 cases as the state saw a steady declining trend in the infection rate over the last few days.

However, the state reported four deaths due to the viral disease which is the highest daily fatality recorded for the current month.
The 201 fresh cases took the total infection count of COVID-19 in the state to 1,34,862 while the death  toll rose to 2,063 including the four latest deaths.

The deaths were reported in Imphal East, Kakching, Bishnupur and Thoubal. None of them were vaccinated against COVID-19 and all of them had comorbidities, the health department claimed.

A total of 204 patients were discharged during the day, which took the recovery count to 1,29,013, improving the recovery rate slightly to 95.66%. 

As many as 2,008 tests were conducted on Sunday and the test positivity rate of the day was 10.0% which showed further decline in the TPR.

There are 3,786 active cases in the state at present.

Imphal West district reported 76 fresh cases and 59 in Imphal East.  Other districts reported below 20-mark new cases with zero cases in three districts.

Meanwhile, with the universal immunization drive intensified in the backdrop of ensuing polls, as many as 12,890 people were vaccinated on Saturday.

It took the total number of doses of the COVID-19 vaccine administered in the state so far to 25,68,152 including 14,57,095 first doses, 10,72,024 second doses and 39,033 precautionary doses.
