Manipur Chief Minister, N Biren Singh on October 11 said that there has been considerable change in the behavior and conduct of police in the past few years, "and people are no more feeling uncomfortable and scared in meeting them."

He said this while inaugurating a police outpost at Sora Khunuda Ching in Kakching district and a twin type-II quarter at the complex of Thoubal Police Station.

According to the Chief Minister, the State has witnessed constant rise in entrepreneurship movement and upsurge in economic activities because of significant improvement in the law and order situation.

"All these are possible due to the joint dedicated efforts of the different security agencies including Manipur police," the Chief Minister added.

Stating that police have been carrying out the campaign of 'War on Drugs' successfully with co-operation from public and different civil society organizations, Singh said that drugs worth around Rs 1000 crore had been seized so far ever since the campaign was launched.

Observing that drug menace should be permanently uprooted from the State in order to save the future generation, the Chief Minister also expressed the need for providing alternative means of livelihood to drug peddlers after reforming them.

He also urged the people to avail benefits under different Government schemes instead of embracing illegal means of livelihood.

Urging the public to actively participate in CM's Green Manipur Mission, the Chief Minister appealed to the people of Sora and adjoining areas to plant trees in the nearby hills in consultation with Zilla Parishad Member and police.

Reminding that land of the whole State belongs to the Government, he asked the people not to fight among them because of land.

Later, the Chief Minister went to Thoubal Police Station and inaugurated a Twin Type-II Quarter there.
