COVID-19 deaths toll rise to 281 with eight deaths, infection tally crosses 25,000-mark

Serosurveillance study on COVID-19 prevalence in Manipur started on Monday.

The state Health authority has started the serosurveillance study on COVID-19 prevalence in four districts –Churachandpur, Imphal West, Kakching and Ukhrul districts.

The Health authority is targeting to collect 4,600 samples, in the ratio of 60:40 of valley (Imphal West and Kakching) and hill (Ukhrul and Churachandpur) where the state Health department identified hotspot regions in terms of mode of spread of the contagion.

Out of the total 4,600 samples, 1,380 each will be collected from two valley districts and the 920 each will be collected from two hill districts. 

Altogether 12 teams comprising five members each are deputed to perform the task.

Meanwhile, the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in the state rose to 281 with deaths of eight in the past 24 hours, a press release of the COVID-19 Common Control Room stated on Monday 

Among the deceased, one was a female of aged 76 years from Imphal East district while the rest were males of ages ranging from 54 to 90 years from Imphal West, Imphal East and Bishnupur districts.

The total number of infected people in Manipur also rose to 25,045 with the detection of 135 fresh positive cases detected among the locals without any significant travel history.

Of them, 21,566 are recovered cases. The recovered cases included 165 patients who were discharged in the last 24 hours. The total number of active cases stands at 3,198.

The recovery rate of COVID-19 of the state is 86.10%.
