IMPHAL, AUGUST 16 (MExN): For the first time after being declared wanted, Manipur’s ‘Wanted’ Khomdram Ratan, former convener, Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit Systems (JCILPS), broke his silence and said police have violated the Constitution in declaring him "wanted".
The government and the state police have violated the constitution by declaring him ‘wanted’, Ratan said at a press conference in Imphal West on Tuesday.
Expressing dismay at the wanted tag on him, Ratan insisted that he has never violated the Constitution and he spearheaded the ILP movement to protect indigenous people. The final hearing of the case was held in the Manipur High Court on Tuesday where the division bench reserved its verdict after hearing the arguments.
A criminal case was registered at Imphal West district’s Singjamei PS against Ratan on June 2, for being a member of the UNLF and for indulging in prejudicial activities against the state.
