DIMAPUR, MAY 25 (MExN): The Maram Hoho, Thangal Hoho and general public of Tamhazam (Senapati) district have expressed resentment over the May 22 incident pertaining to raiding of the NSCN/GPRN Maram-Thangal region office, Tamhazam, by the 5 Assam Rifles led by one Maj Triparti.
Maram Hoho president RK Peter in a press statement said the hohos were constrained to observe that the “draconian attitude” adopted by the AR personnel had violated the spirit of ceasefire in the context of the Indo-Naga peace dialogue, which was moving forward smoothly.
“When the peaceful tranquility is prevailing in the area, the offensive act attempt to provoke the situation thereby creates fears in the minds of the public that may ultimately lead to alienate general public from maintaining good relationship,” the hoho stated.
While questioning the sincerity of the AR in proclaiming peace and t the same time resorting to disruptive activities, the hohos said that such acts of the AR only exposed the “disguise” of so-called “Friends of the hill people” and immaturity of Maj Triparti. The two hohos urged all concern to maintain the essence of maturity and restraint as part of confidence building measure.
