Marketing channel for local potato farmers

As part of promotion of local women potato farmers, the state’s Women Resource Department today facilitated a marketing channel for potato farmers of Viswema village by organizing a sales day under transformative livelihood intervention project.

It was formally inaugurated by Anenla T Sato, commissioner & secretary, department of women resource development and horticulture, Nagaland. She said that the department is promoting the organic products of the entrepreneurs in the state. Stating that the world is after the organic products, she told the farmers to refrain from using the fertilizer. She maintained that Nagas are good in immune system because of consumption of organic products.

Vilone Sakhrie, Director Women Resource Development, Nagaland said that the Viswema village have able to produce more than 10 metric tonnes of potatoes. “We are helping them to promote their potato to the wider range of consumers. We want to bring their products to Kohima, Dimapur and other districts as promotional activities,” he said.
