KOHIMA, SEPTEMBER 29 (MExN): Christ King Higher Secondary School inaugurated the Marocchino Memorial Tournament today, in memory of the late Father Marcello Marocchino, a dedicated missionary and educationist who had a profound impact on the school and its community. The tournament aims to celebrate Father Marcello’s legacy, fostering sportsmanship and unity among the students.
Colonel Tarun Rana, Commandant of the 13 Assam Rifles, graced the inaugural program as the special guest. In his address, Colonel Rana motivated the young athletes, urging them to approach sports not just as competition but as a means to build discipline, teamwork, and leadership skills.
The event also drew attention to road safety for the students. In response to concerns about the high volume of traffic on the main road outside the school, Colonel Rana presented roadblocks as additional safety measures to ensure that students can move safely between the school and sports grounds.
The Marocchino Memorial Tournament will continue over the next few days, featuring a variety of sports events, including football, basketball, and athletics. The tournament provides a platform for students to showcase their talents, embodying Father Marcello’s passion for education, sports, and youth development.
